We frequently work with clients to create a highly-targeted, data-rich mailing list they can’t buy anywhere.

The process typically combines a client’s in-house list of customers and inquirers with data from several sources, including:

  • Trade show exhibitors
  • Professional association members
  • Professionals who must maintain their state licensing

Check out nicheCRAFT Custom-built lists for descriptions of the data-gathering techniques you can use to build a more robust profile of your customers, inquirers, and prospects.

When you can’t find lists with the job titles you seek

Try the traditional direct mail technique of using a title address with a compiled list. For example, the addresses on your mailing would look like this:

ATTN: MARKETING MANAGER
XYZ COMPANY
121 MAIN ST
EBBING MO 65550

If you market to physicians, add NPI numbers to your list

These NPI numbers are a personal identification number, similar to a Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number, that physicians and other healthcare providers are assigned by the US Government. A doctor receives one Personal NPI number which stays with them for their entire career.

The Personal NPI number is used in many ways by doctors, including:

  • Insurance billing purposes
  • Submission of claims to Medicare
  • HIPAA Compliance

This Personal NPI number can be used by marketers as a unique identifier to assist in matching and gathering data elements from many different sources.

Facebook tools for target marketing

You can use Facebook Ads Manager to identify the Facebook users who match your customer lists – and find “lookalike” users who share the same characteristics as your customers. This process can quickly double the size of your target audience.

If the mailing list you’re searching for doesn’t exist, fear not. By combining your in-house list of customers and inquirers with data from several sources, you can create a custom highly-targeted, data-rich mailing list and be well on your way to direct marketing success.
