Working from home is awesome. Mobile technology and other new resources have made it even better in the last decade.

Whenever I attend a party and someone asks me what I do for a living (which I learned recently is a rude question in most of the world), I usually answer “I am part of a family marketing business and I work from home”. While working at home is not as novel as it was when I first started, people are still curious about it. Sure, there are distractions (I see you mountain of laundry), but I’ve learned how to limit those and stay productive. And the research seems to support my belief that I’m more productive working from home than at an office.

When I first started working from home the technology resources were limited. The first iPhone had not come out yet. My DSL connection was a blazing 2 Mbps and video conferencing wasn’t really an option yet. Today, there are many resources that make working from home easier and more productive. Here are a few that can help you accomplish more.

Tools To Get More Done When Working From Home

Microsoft Office for mobile — The single most important tool I use on a daily basis

SKARSTA Sit/Stand Desk — I’ve tried just standing and just sitting but find a mix of both is the best for me

TrekDesk Treadmill Desk  — Great way to keep moving when you work

TaskBullet Virtual Assistant — Get help with data entry, administrative tasks, research, and other tasks you don’t have time to do

Shared Office Spaces

As much as I like working from home, sometimes it’s just not feasible. If you’re an entrepreneur or startup business owner who has to be “near the action” downtown, I suggest you use one of these shared office space providers for your daily work or important meetings:

LiquidSpace

WeWork

ShareDesk

Use these tools to make the most of working from home and accomplish more than you previously thought possible.
