Work together even if it’s not your project. It’s best to be productive, whether for you or someone else – and it’s essential for business growth.

Find a few hours each week where – instead of bouncing around the internet – you ask a colleague how you can help them on a project. Sometimes even doing mundane tasks like organizing files and folders, data entry, or number-crunching can make a project much easier to complete – even if you only assist for a few minutes.

Teamwork and March Madness

Teamwork has most recently been on national display through March Madness. This time of year, there’s no greater place to see teams working together with every bit of effort and hustle to survive and advance. To get from the starting field of 68 teams to this weekend’s Final Four requires an almost unfathomable amount of teamwork, productivity, and perseverance.

Sometimes teamwork comes from unexpected sources. Sister Jean, the 98-year old Team Chaplain for the Cinderella Loyola-Chicago basketball team, has become “the face of the team” and an inspiration to millions of new fans across the country. And now Sister Jean is selflessly putting her fame to good use for the school’s athletic program and her charity: she’s allowing her name and image to be used on all types of branded merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, and bobbleheads.

Per ESPN’s article, “Licensing royalties for Sister Jean product, except for the bobblehead, are set up to support the Loyola Athletic Fund, which supports the funding of the program’s athletes. The bobblehead splits the proceeds between the school’s fund and Sister Jean’s Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.”

Teamwork is Essential for Business Growth

Sister Jean embodies the “take one for the team” mentality that has led Loyola-Chicago to their historic run, and is so valuable in businesses around the world. Next time you’re in a rut at work, think of ways you and your colleagues can work together to be more productive and spur business growth.
