SLA is an international association for
innovative information professionals and their
strategic partners. Dedicated to promoting
the leadership role of special librarians, SLA
is a nonprofit organization that strengthens
its members through learning, advocacy and
networking initiatives. Current membership
exceeds 12,000 associates in 83 countries.
Members are affiliated with libraries that
specifically serve corporations, research
operations, governmental agencies,
universities, newspapers, museums and other
institutions that use or produce specialized
